When you start using SalonLife, you may need to move your list of services from one place to another. For example, you might already have all your service information ready in Excel, or want to conveniently import one salon’s services into another location. Service import is a fast, efficient solution for this, saving you time and cutting down on manual data entry.
A Quick Overview of the Process
- Prepare your CSV file. Make sure it includes the service name, category, price, and duration (if you don’t have a file ready yet, download SalonLife’s sample file and adapt it with your own data).
- Upload the file to import it.
- Match each column to the right field (for example, service name, duration, price, etc.).
- Skip any columns that SalonLife can’t or shouldn’t import.
- Check the rows of services the system is about to import, then start the import.
- Review the import results and open your newly added services.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Open Data Import from the Apps Page

- Go to the Apps page in the SalonLife menu.
- Select Data Import.
- The screen shows three possible imports: "Client Import," "Service Import," and "Product Import."
- Since your goal is to import services, select: Service Import.
2. Use the Sample File
Before uploading your file, download the sample file — it’s the best way to make sure your spreadsheet’s (CSV) columns are formatted correctly. The sample file shows you exactly:
- Which columns should be present.
- Which data fields SalonLife works with.
- How to enter different values correctly.
TIP: If you already have a CSV file, adjust it to match the sample file’s columns (for example, service name, price, duration, etc.).
3. Upload Your CSV File

- Once your file is ready, click the button that lets you upload the CSV file (you can also drag and drop it onto the page).
- While uploading, make sure the progress reaches 100%.
- Continue with the import once the file has uploaded successfully.
4. Name the Service Columns to Match Your Data

After uploading the file, you can set what information each column contains. For example:
- "Service Name"
- "Duration"
- "Price"
- "Buffer Time Before" / "Buffer Time After"
- "Additional Info"
If a column isn’t needed, or SalonLife can’t import it, select Skip This Column from the dropdown.
5. Check the Rows to Be Imported
- A list appears on screen showing how many services are in the file.
- If the first row actually contains headers (e.g. "Name," "Price," etc.), skip that row during import.
6. Start the Import
- Once all the fields are set correctly, confirm the import.
- The system shows how many services are about to be imported.
- Once you give the final confirmation, the data is imported into SalonLife.
7. Check the Import Results
.png)
- After the import, you’ll see a general summary showing:
- The total number of services imported.
- How many rows imported successfully.
- How many rows failed to import (if any).
- If a service wasn’t imported, you can download the affected row(s) as a separate list, which also states the reason (for example, a non-numeric value in the price field). Make the necessary corrections and upload that portion again.
8. Check the Results on the "Services" Page
- Once all your services have imported successfully, you can click "Show Services" or go to your Services page to view the newly added services.
- From here, you can already fine-tune each service as needed: add a description, or edit and add to the duration, price, and so on.
Useful Tips:
- Take the time to check that all the columns line up correctly. Incorrectly matched columns cause errors during import.
- If needed, save the file as "CSV (Comma Separated Values)," since other formats (like XLS or XLSX) may not work directly.
- If the import fails, first try downloading the file of failed rows, fix it, and upload it again — this saves a lot of time!
And that’s it! Your services are now successfully carried over into SalonLife. We recommend reviewing them once more after the import, adding buffer times or any other extra information, and voilà — you’re ready to start taking clients!
