Some common reasons why clients "don’t receive" notifications
- The client entered an incorrect or misspelled email address (e.g. gmail.con instead of gmail.com);
- The client entered an incorrect or misspelled phone number;
- The client’s mailbox is full, or has filters/restrictions in place;
- The email gets routed to a Spam, Junk, Social Media, or similar folder;
- Your SMS credit has run out.
Solutions:
- Ask clients to check their other mail folders too, since whether an email lands in the main inbox or somewhere in a junk folder isn’t something SalonLife, Google, Facebook, Bolt, or any other company can control, regardless of size. Most often, these automatic notifications are simply hiding in another folder.
- Always ask clients to double-check that the email address and phone number they entered are correct, or whether a typo accidentally slipped in.
- If your SMS credit tends to quietly run out, the most sensible solution is to switch SMS credit purchasing to "Buy Automatically" mode, where the system buys SMS credit for you in advance whenever your remaining SMS count drops below a set threshold.
- If you want to check yourself whether, and to which phone number or email, a notification was sent to the client by the system, click on the booking → click the menu button in the top-right corner → select "Info & Log" from the menu. That page lists every entry related to that specific booking (including notifications sent).
Advice for clients who use Gmail for email - to make sure SalonLife’s emails always land in the main inbox, they should do the following:
- Drag the email from the Social Media or Promotions folder into the Primary folder;
- If Gmail asks "Do this for future messages too?", select "Yes"
You can also add SalonLife to your so-called "nice list", so that SalonLife’s emails stop being routed to spam:
- Hover your mouse over the sender’s name!
- Select "Add to Contacts" so you can add SalonLife to your contacts list
This way, SalonLife’s emails will always reach the right inbox and won’t wander off into another folder.
