If you or one of your staff members needs to take a break from providing beauty services for any reason (for example, maternity leave or an extended trip), you have several options-you can temporarily deactivate the staff account, or delete it completely if needed.
A Short Break (a Few Weeks or a Few Days)
If the staff member, or you yourself, will be away for a short time:
- Don’t add any open work-schedule days to the calendar for that period.
- As far as online booking and the calendar are concerned, you’re "unavailable" during that time, and no new appointments can be booked.
- When you’re back, simply open a new work schedule in the calendar again and carry on as usual.
A Staff Member Leaves the Salon for Good

If a staff member no longer serves the salon’s clients and their monthly salon fee no longer needs to be paid:
- Go to the Staff app.
- Open the profile of the staff member who’s leaving.
- On the page that opens, select the Delete staff member button.
- Confirm that you want to delete them.
Good to know!
The deletion takes effect when the next billing period begins. Until then, the staff account stays "active" until the end of the month (if the deletion happens partway through). All existing bookings, statistics, and reports stay in the system, but they’re no longer linked to an active staff member.
Temporarily Deactivating a Staff Account (a Longer Break, but Returning Later)

If a staff member will be away longer (for example, maternity leave or an extended trip) but will return to the salon in the future:
- Go to the Staff page from the Apps menu.
- Open that staff member’s profile, then click the Settings button.
- Find the Online Booking Enabled option and turn it off.
NB! This means the staff member’s profile still exists under the salon, but they won’t accept online bookings, and no one can add appointments to their calendar.
TIP:
While a profile is inactive, the monthly fee for that staff member usually still applies, since the account is still linked to the salon. Be sure to ask SalonLife support for more information if needed, or work out a solution that suits you.
A Full Break as a Sole Trader (if You’re the Only Service Provider at Your Salon)
If you’re SalonLife’s only user and want to take a break for a longer period:
- Open the SalonLife Billing tab from the Apps page.
- Find the plan option under Billing Period.
- Select Cancel Plan, which takes effect at the start of the next billing period (the start of the next month).
This way, you keep access to your calendar, client base, and existing bookings, but paid features are restricted. When you come back, you can reactivate a suitable plan the same way, at any time.
