Creating and changing a work schedule in the SalonLife calendar helps you easily manage your working hours and make sure clients only see time slots that are actually open or booked. Below, you’ll find all the important steps for adding a workday to the calendar, adjusting it, and turning it back into a day off if needed.
Activating a Work Schedule

1. Dragging out a workday’s time range
• In the calendar, grab the time on the day you’ve chosen with your mouse
• Drag the time range as long as you plan to work that day
• For example, choose 08:00 as the start and 15:00 as the end, so clients can book appointments between 08:00 and 15:00
2. Using the menu option
• Click the date you want to open as a workday
• From the options that open, select the Mark as Workday button
• The day is automatically marked as a workday according to your base work schedule
(for example, 08:00-18:00)
3. Double-clicking or double-tapping an empty area
• On a computer, double-click a blank area on that day where there’s no schedule yet
• On a mobile device, tap the same spot twice in a row
• A workday activation view opens, using the times from your base work schedule
TIP:
If you want to change your base work schedule’s hours, you can do that in your staff settings. In that case, the calendar will always pre-fill workdays with exactly those hours.
Changing a Workday’s Start and End Time
Once you’ve activated a workday, you can always adjust it:
- Drag the start or end time up or down.
- For example, if you opened the workday at 08:00 but actually want to start at 09:00, just drag the start time forward by an hour.
- You can also shorten or extend the end time if needed.
Important:
If you set 15:00 as the day’s end time, that means the last booking ends at 15:00. So it’s not possible to add a new booking starting right at 15:00.
Turning a Workday Into a Day Off
- Click the date you want.
- In the menu that opens, there’s a Make Day Off button (it takes the place where Mark as Workday would normally be).
- The day becomes free again, and clients won’t see any bookable times on it.
A Quick Note on the Icons
- If there’s a sun icon above the day, that means it’s a workday.
- If there’s a star icon above the day, that means it’s a day off.
Copying the Schedule for a Longer Period
If you don’t want to open and adjust every single day by hand:
- Use the copy schedule feature to carry similar workdays over to the following weeks or months.
- You’ll find a separate article about using the copy schedule tool.
