When a client makes a new online booking, how can you set things up so the staff member also gets notified about it? Below you’ll find detailed instructions on how to change these settings and what the different options mean.
When a client books your service or an appointment through SalonLife’s online booking system, you’ll get notified by email or SMS. You can choose:
- email notification only,
- SMS notification only,
- or both at once.
Keep in mind that SMS notifications may use up your salon’s (or your own personal) SMS credit. So it’s worth thinking carefully about how you want to be notified.
How Do You Change a Staff Member’s Booking Notification Settings?

- Open the Apps page and select Staff.
- Select the staff member’s profile you want from the list.
- Then go to the Settings tab next to the staff member’s details.
- Find the option Notification About a New Online Booking.
- Set whether you want to receive a notification:
- By Email Only
- By SMS Only
- By Email and SMS
- If you choose SMS, or email + SMS notifications, be sure to check that your salon has enough SMS credit. If your SMS credit runs out, the notifications won’t work.
- Save your changes.
TIP:
Usually, email notifications on a phone (for example in Gmail, Outlook, or Apple Mail) are already set up to appear automatically on the lock screen or notification bar. If you just want to quickly know that a new booking has been made, an email notification alone is usually enough.
If you want instant information about every newly created booking, it makes sense to set up your staff booking notifications to match your own preferences. That way, you’ll get notified right away by email, or by SMS as well if you’d like.
Just keep in mind that SMS notifications use your salon’s SMS credit, so if your smartphone already shows email notifications on the lock screen or notification bar anyway, an email notification alone is usually enough.
