Services that are added and set up correctly make your day-to-day work a lot easier. This guide walks you step by step through quickly adding new services and setting them up to match your exact needs.
Why Categories Matter
Before creating a new service, we recommend first setting up suitable categories. Categories help you keep your service list neat and easy to manage. On top of that, your clients can browse services by category in online booking, which makes it faster for them to find the right one.
If you’ve already set up your categories, feel free to go ahead and add services. If not, set them up first, following this other article.
Adding a New Service

- Go to the "Services" tab on the Apps page.
Open the Apps page and select Services. This takes you to a page where you can see all your existing services and add new ones. - Add a new service
- Click the green (+) button in the top right corner.
- Then fill in the following service details:
- Service name: enter as clear and short a name as possible (e.g., "Gel Nail Application").
- Price: enter the regular or base price (e.g., €50).
- Category: choose a suitable one from the categories you’ve already created (e.g., "Nails").
- Duration: set the service’s duration (e.g., 3 hours).
- Additional info and description
You can add a longer description or pricing information to the service:- Clarify what exactly this service includes.
- If the price can change, note that the final cost depends on, say, the nail design or hair length.
- This text is also shown to the client in online booking, so it’s smart to share important information in as much detail as possible.
- Add settings under ''Show More''
Clicking "Show More" reveals additional settings:- Activation: set whether the service is open for online booking, or only active in your own calendar.
- Prep time and wrap-up time: if you need buffer time before or after providing the service (e.g., setting up tools, cleaning up, etc.), be sure to add it here. Online booking factors these times in automatically.
- Create service
Once the main settings are in place, click "Create Service." The system adds the new service to your service list.

Assigning Staff Members Who Provide the Service

Once the service is saved, you can choose which staff members provide it. Activate or deactivate the service for each staff member as needed. If you turn the service off for a particular staff member, neither you nor clients in online booking will be able to book them for that service.
TIP:
If you need to add a lot of similar services with only minimal differences (e.g., price, duration, or a slight wording nuance), it’s worth checking out the "Service Duplication" feature, which helps you create them faster.
Adding new services in SalonLife is quick and easy once you’ve thought through your categories, basic details, and any additional info. This way, clients can quickly find the right service for them in online booking, and you keep your calendar organized. If needed, round out your service settings with buffer times or different prices for different staff.
