Service categories help you keep the services your salon offers organized, and let clients find exactly what they’re looking for more quickly in online booking. Below is a step-by-step guide to creating, editing, and deleting categories in SalonLife.

Why Do Categories Matter?

  • They help structure your services better, so both staff and clients can easily find what they need.
  • They help keep the booking view clean and logical, since clients can clearly see the different service areas.
  • They help group together similar or related services (for example, "Nails," under which you’d find "Gel Nails," "Gel Polish," and so on).

How to Add a New Category

__wf_reserved_inherit
  1. Open the "Services" app
    • Go from the Apps page to the Services tab.
    • Look there for a button or menu labeled Categories (usually found in the top menu).
  2. The Categories menu
    • Click Categories.
    • This view shows all your existing categories.
  3. Add a new category
    • Select the green (+) button at the top right.
    • Enter the category name.
    • Choose a name that describes your different services as broadly as possible (e.g., "Nails").
    • Confirm your choice by clicking Save.
    •
TIP:
If your salon only offers one type of service (say, you only do gel nails), you can just name the category "Gel Nails." If you offer several areas (hair, nail services, beauty), create a separate category for each major area.

How to Edit or Remove a Category

To edit, select Info or Edit next to the category you want. Enter the new name and save.
To remove it, select Delete next to the category. Confirm the removal once you’re sure you no longer need that category.

Viewing the Services in a Category

If you want to see which services are linked to a specific category:

  1. Click the Services button on the category’s row.
  2. There you’ll see a list of services, which you can turn on or off as needed to change whether they belong to that category.
    ‍

Creating service categories makes managing your services easier and helps clients find what they want more quickly. Feel free to categorize your services however suits your salon best. Whether you have one main category or several broader beauty service areas, a clear, organized structure always gives both you and your clients a better overview.
