Your main photo is the first thing a client sees on your salon’s profile page. It shapes their first impression before they’ve looked at a single service or price. The right main photo builds trust, conveys your salon’s atmosphere, and motivates the client to book. The wrong photo, on the other hand, can make the client hesitant—or make them leave the profile page altogether.
If we put ourselves in the client’s shoes for a moment, they’d probably want the photo to let them ‘’peek’’ through your salon’s doorway. What do they see, and how are they welcomed there—that’s exactly the kind of photo that works well as a main photo!
We want every beauty professional to have equal, strong chances of finding new clients, and consistent quality helps make that happen. That’s why it matters that your main photo meets both the content and technical requirements—below you’ll find a clear overview of what works and what doesn’t.
✅ WORKS as your salon’s main photo and cover photo:
- A first-impression shot from your salon’s doorway. Capture that first step a client takes when walking through the door. What do they see? If your salon’s name or logo is proudly displayed at the waiting area or reception desk, try to fit that into the shot too.
- A photo of your service area. This kind of photo gives clients a feel for what it’s like to already be relaxing in your salon and receiving a treatment.
- A photo of your team. Take a bright, genuine group photo with your whole team, either outside the salon or indoors.
- A photo of yourself. If you run a smaller salon, work solo, or simply don’t want to use an interior shot as your main photo, a professional photo of yourself as a beauty professional works nicely too.
- The photo is polished and high quality; ideally shot in natural light, from a good angle, giving the client a clear sense of what your salon looks like.
Photo dimensions/file size, etc. must be:
- The minimum width for the main photo and cover photo is 1000 pixels, and the minimum height is 694 pixels.
- Staff profile photos have no size limit (only a file-size limit of around 10 MB).
- Your salon logo has no size limit (only a file-size limit of around 10 MB).
- Ideally, the photo should be shot in landscape/horizontal orientation, so it’s easier for you to fit it onto the profile page.
❌ DOESN’T WORK as your salon’s main photo or cover photo:
- Your salon’s logo. A beauty salon’s logo doesn’t work as a main photo. There’s a separate, dedicated spot for your salon logo on the general profile. If you’d like, you can upload the logo and enable it on the profile on this page.
- A photo with text added on top. If your salon’s name happens to appear in the background of a photo taken at your salon, that’s perfectly fine. But photos with text added afterward in editing don’t belong on the platform.
- A photo of the service itself, or a "before-and-after" shot. Don’t use a photo of you actively performing a treatment on a client, or a "before-and-after" collage of the result.
A photo also doesn’t work if it is:
- Low quality;
- Taken in dim or dark lighting;
- Old or outdated;
- Not polished/professional-looking;
- A random photo from the internet related to your beauty field.
